Jackson Museum School is a new K–6 public charter school opening in Fall 2026 in the Jackson-Madison, Tennessee area, beginning with grades K–2. Built on the proven museum school model, JMS connects classroom learning with hands-on exploration through partnerships with museums, cultural institutions, and community spaces.
Explore ideas through hands-on, inquiry-based learning
Build strong literacy skills through research, storytelling, writing, and reflection
Collaborate with museums and community partners to connect classroom learning to the real world
Develop curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking
Grow in a supportive community where every student is encouraged to explore, engage, and feel empowered
We promise a balanced and enriching experience. Traditional academics will be enhanced with classes in fine arts, including theatre, art, chorus, and dance, along with a Makerspace dedicated to robotics and STEM. Each year, new enrichment courses will be introduced based on student interest and feedback. Our approach incorporates technology-infused, literacy-rich learning, centered around the museum unit. Each day, students will begin with a thought-provoking question, engage in research, embark on expeditions, and return to the classroom to document their findings in a travel log. They will then collaborate on projects, fostering character development and positive cultural experiences, culminating in presentations to both the school community and the broader public, creating a well-rounded, inclusive learning environment.
