Our Approach
At Jackson Museum School (JMS), learning is designed to spark curiosity and discovery. Through the museum school model, students connect classroom lessons to the world around them by exploring real artifacts, working with community partners, and engaging in hands-on, inquiry-based projects that build critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration.
JMS also nurtures a positive, supportive culture through PBIS and our House system, where students build teamwork, leadership, and a strong sense of belonging. With arts integration and literacy woven throughout the curriculum, students develop strong academic foundations while growing into confident, curious learners ready to explore the world around them.
What Is A Museum School?
A museum school integrates the resources and practices of museums into everyday learning. At JMS, students explore ideas through hands-on projects connected to artifacts, exhibits, and community institutions, turning the world beyond the classroom into an extension of learning.
This interdisciplinary approach encourages curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking while blending arts, science, history, and literacy into meaningful learning experiences. By engaging directly with real objects, places, and experts, students develop a deeper understanding of what they study and how it connects to the world around them.
